Located midway between
Fort William (
Ben Nevis's home town) and
Oban, the Old Byre cottage is the perfect self-catering base from which to explore some of the most spectacular scenery in the British Isles. Argyllshire has been at the centre of many events in Scotland's rich-if-dark history; there can be few better places from which to enjoy its' echoes.
You can see exactly where we are
here. We advise guests that having a car is essential to your enjoyment of the local area.
The Old Byre is adjacent to the 18th Century manse house at Duror in Argyllshire. From the front door a 10 minute walk brings you to the sea loch of Cuil Bay on
Loch Linnhe with its sea otters, sea eagles and ever curious families of seals; another 20 minutes and you can enjoy the spectacular views from the gentle slopes of
Beinn a' Bheithir; 30 minutes in the car and you're skiing in
Glencoe.
