Located midway between Fort William (Ben Nevis's home town) and Oban, the Old Byre cottage is the perfect self-catering base from which to explore some of the most spectacular scenery in the British Isles. Argyllshire has been at the centre of many events in Scotland's rich-if-dark history; there can be few better places from which to enjoy its' echoes.

You can see exactly where we are here. We advise guests that having a car is essential to your enjoyment of the local area.

The Old Byre is adjacent to the 18th Century manse house at Duror in Argyllshire. From the front door a 10 minute walk brings you to the sea loch of Cuil Bay on Loch Linnhe with its sea otters, sea eagles and ever curious families of seals; another 20 minutes and you can enjoy the spectacular views from the gentle slopes of Beinn a' Bheithir; 30 minutes in the car and you're skiing in Glencoe.
In 30 odd years of renting property in Scotland, this is the best.

Whether you visit Scotland for sightseeing, hill walking, bird watching or for any of the countless adventures available here, the Old Byre is the ideal short rental property at any time of year. All this just 2 hours from Glasgow International airport, 2.5 hours from either Edinburgh or Inverness airports and about 45 minutes from either Oban or Fort William railway stations.

A converted outhouse, the Old Byre is perfectly secluded and very private with gardens and parking. The owner's home is located nearby, which is why the Old Byre has developed a reputation for excellent service and great hospitality.
